They communicated with me without delay, came for the quote in a timely manner and scheduled my garage roof replacement  without constant delays. They sent thorough invoices , supervisors checked in with me about any questions I had , and the roof technicians did excellent work and cleaned up very nicely. I don't remember the young man's name (short term memory) but he gave me a courtesy call letting me know when to expect him, he was polite, nice smile & professional. He took pictures of the damage so I could see what was causing the leak & explained how he could repair it & gave me a fair quote upfront. I gave him the go ahead to repair the roof leak & he even told me how to get rid of the unsightly water stains on  my ceiling. The whole process took less than an hour. TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin)

TPO stands for Thermoplastic Polyolefin, a single-ply roofing membrane widely used on flat and low-slope roofs. This white or light-colored synthetic material offers excellent UV resistance, energy efficiency, and durability at a competitive price point. TPO membranes are heat-welded at the seams, creating watertight bonds that resist leaks and weather damage while reflecting sunlight to reduce cooling costs.

Membrane

In TPO roofing, the membrane is the flexible sheet material that forms the waterproof barrier protecting your home. TPO membranes typically come in large rolls and are available in various thicknesses (measured in mils). The membrane is installed over insulation and substrate layers, then secured using mechanical fasteners, adhesives, or ballast, depending on your specific roofing system design.

Heat Welding

Heat welding is the process of fusing TPO membrane seams together using hot air to create a permanent, watertight bond. A specialized hot-air welding tool melts the overlapping edges of two TPO sheets, allowing them to meld together as they cool. This method creates seams that are actually stronger than the membrane itself, making heat-welded TPO roofs highly resistant to leaks and separation.

Low-Slope Roof

A low-slope roof has a pitch (angle) that is relatively flat, typically defined as having a slope of 3:12 or less (meaning the roof rises 3 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal distance). TPO roofing is specifically designed for low-slope applications where traditional shingles would not provide adequate water drainage or protection, making it ideal for many modern residential and commercial structures.

Ponding Water

Ponding water refers to standing water that remains on a flat or low-slope roof for more than 48 hours after rainfall. While quality TPO membranes can withstand some ponding, chronic water accumulation can accelerate membrane degradation, promote algae growth, and indicate drainage problems. Proper roof design with adequate slope and drainage solutions minimizes ponding and extends your TPO roof’s service life.

Reflectivity

Reflectivity refers to TPO roofing’s ability to reflect solar radiation rather than absorbing it as heat. TPO membranes, especially in white or light colors, have high solar reflectance values, meaning they bounce sunlight away from your home. This reflective property keeps your roof surface cooler, reduces attic temperatures, lowers air conditioning costs, and can extend the lifespan of your roofing system.

Substrate

The substrate is the structural surface upon which the TPO roofing system is installed. This foundation layer might be plywood, oriented strand board (OSB), concrete, or another existing roof deck. Insulation Board

Insulation board refers to the rigid foam panels installed between the substrate and the TPO membrane.
